THEORY

The next step after VIKING COAT LIQUID 5.4: durable protection for the cold season.

The lineage: LIQUID 5.3 → LIQUID 5.4 (the limited-edition VIKING COAT) → LIQUID 6.1. LIQUID 6.1 adds modified fluorinated polysilazane, borophene and titanium to the 5.3 base.

This project began when our Norwegian distributor asked for an exclusive, highly durable ceramic protection for cold climates in Scandinavia.

We have been developing a product for northern regions, on and off, since 2024. In cold weather, water-repellent groups tend to close up, so water repellency doesn't work as it should, and slickness is virtually nonexistent. Our top priority was a surface coating that lasts more than one winter.

For LIQUID 6.1, we deliberately adopted the 5.3 base and aimed for high durability by leaving out slickness. We increased the surfactant for adhesion to the paint surface and put protection first. All changes were made while prioritizing durability and keeping application possible in cold climates.

The result was the emulsion-type VIKING COAT, LIQUID 5.4. After further material testing, we added titanium, adjusted concentrations, and introduced the latest ION GENERATOR 3.0, which led to LIQUID 6.1.

The VIKING COAT technology was first carried over into OVER COAT CERAMIC -EVO-, a spray coating with a water-soluble solvent system, high durability and strong solvent resistance. LIQUID 6.1 is a "hybrid" that brings the water-soluble solvent of CERAMIC EVO into the LIQUID 5.3 base emulsion.

It uses our modified fluorinated polysilazane for chemical resistance, plus borophene (a single-atom layer of boron) to help the film bond to the paint. We also reduced organic solvents such as nonane, which were used in the earlier OVER COAT CERAMIC, as far as possible, and moved to a water-based formula.

We offer it as a new phase of KAMIKAZE COLLECTION and OVER COAT.

PERFORMANCE

LIQUID 6.1 is a performance-focused model built around durability and chemical resistance. It has no slick feel and tends toward a reflective sheen rather than depth. The formula and finish are intentionally uncompromising, aimed at international and Nordic conditions.

• Durability: Greatly improved resistance to alkaline products and solvents compared with LIQUID 5.3, with particular attention to road salt and alkali resistance.
• Fast surface cure: The surface cures in about 3 hours after application.
• Sacrificial layer: It can be used as a sacrificial layer over curing ceramic coatings, or as protection before they cure. It can be applied over OVER COAT CERAMIC -EVO- as a sacrificial layer until that coating fully cures.
• Mineral spots: WATER SPOT REMOVER, diluted with 50% water, can still remove mineral deposits. For regular maintenance, KMKZ ACID SHAMPOO and KMKZ QUICK DETAILER 3.0 are generally sufficient.
• Reset: Remove it as usual with KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE or KMKZ PAINT CLEANSING.

ION GENERATOR 3.0
This model uses the latest version of the ION GENERATOR, a signature feature of the OVER COAT LIQUID series. Earlier models make the emulsion slightly alkaline, while this one is slightly acidic.

It is a key material for optimizing the ionic balance of the water-based emulsion. It adds negative ions to the silicone molecules themselves and supports the minimal surfactant. Its mild acidity helps application and removes inorganic mineral deposits, which helps prevent unevenness without organic solvents. We believe this "ion control" is what gives the product its resistance to re-soiling.

KMKZ NEW SPRAYER
In response to customer feedback, we developed a new large-capacity sprayer in black and gold to match our spray heads, with several custom-made parts. Durability was the priority.

I've received many inquiries about OVER COAT CERAMIC -EVO-, so I hope you'll try this as a sacrificial layer until it cures, and for outdoor application in colder temperatures.

DIRECTIONS

Designed for cold-season use. Apply at 5°C (41°F) or above.

1. Degrease the surface with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING. We also recommend KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE to fill fine scratches and create a smooth base, and KMKZ PAINT CLEANSING to remove degraded wax or coating.
2. Apply a generous, even amount with an applicator, one panel at a time. Spraying onto the applicator is better than spraying directly onto the body, which can leave product on paint, glass and other surfaces. Using a dropper uses less product.
3. Wipe off with a clean microfiber towel.
4. Keep the car away from rain and water for 3 hours after application.
5. Recoat after at least 12 hours. We recommend two coats; spread the second coat thinly.
6. For long-lasting maintenance, we recommend KMKZ QUICK DETAILER 3.0.

Application conditions
This product forms a tough coating but can be delicate to apply. Please note:

• Initial cure: 3 hours
• Full cure: 10 hours (washable after this)
• Application temperature: 5°C (41°F) or above
• Cold weather: Watch for low temperatures and moisture such as frost.
• Exposure to strong sunlight after application can speed up curing.

FAQ

Q. Can I reset it with KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE or KMKZ PAINT CLEANSING?
A. Yes. You can reset it just as easily as other OVER COAT products.

Q. How is it different from OVER COAT CERAMIC -EVO-?
A. LIQUID 6.1 forms a film using some of the film-forming ingredients found in CERAMIC EVO. As an emulsion (a milky mixture of water and silicone), it is highly resistant to alkaline and acidic cleaners, and it is as easy to apply as the rest of the LIQUID series. However, its durability and protection do not match CERAMIC EVO, which remains our ideal protection. We recommend LIQUID 6.1 as a sacrificial layer during the initial drying stage of CERAMIC EVO, when conditions are hard to control.

Q. After 12 hours I can see a film on the paint, but water repellency is weak or chemical resistance is lacking.
A. This is likely due to temperature or moisture contact during application, or to a degraded, mille-feuille-like layer underneath that needs a reset. Prepare the surface again and reapply.

Q. How many applications does one 300 ml bottle cover?
A. More than 10 standard-sized cars. For the first coat, apply a sufficient, even amount, since a thin coat can lead to poor results. From the second coat, a thin layer is enough.

Q. What do you recommend for applying it?
A. Degrease before application, use an applicator that lets you apply evenly and generously, and use four microfiber towels for efficient wiping.

Q. I noticed haze and uneven application that wouldn't wipe away.
A. A small amount of KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE can remove the haze, but we generally recommend reapplying. Before reapplying, degrease with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING.

Q. Can I apply it without resetting?
A. We recommend preparing the surface with KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE. In every case, degrease with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING.

Q. Can I use it on glass, black plastic trim or wheels?
A. It isn't formulated for those surfaces, so we don't recommend it.
