THEORY

Modified fluorinated polysilazane + borophene

This formula combines our modified fluorinated polysilazane, for chemical resistance, with borophene (a single-atom layer of boron), added to help the film bond to the paint.

For overseas markets, including Europe and the United States, we reduced the organic solvents such as nonane used in the earlier OVER COAT CERAMIC as far as possible, and moved from a solvent-based formula to a water-soluble one (water, water-soluble solvent, additives, main ingredients and borophene).

The product grew out of our development of a cold-climate coating for Northern Europe. While working on that project with modified fluorinated polysilazane, borophene and several additives, we saw a chance to bring the same approach to OVER COAT CERAMIC, and changed the direction of development. The formula was created by blending our own materials with samples prepared by our joint development partner.

Developed with the KAIZEN (continuous improvement) approach that KAMIKAZE COLLECTION specializes in, this next-generation product reflects a new spirit of challenge and a system for bringing in new technologies and materials. A cold-climate version is available as OVER COAT LIQUID 6.1.

PERFORMANCE

Compared with the earlier OVER COAT CERAMIC, gloss and slickness are greatly improved. In exchange, it is less forgiving to apply and requires a somewhat demanding application environment and technique.

• Durability: Greatly improved resistance to alkaline products and solvents. Resistance to some acidic chemicals has been confirmed under set conditions. Most reported issues have come from application problems, such as cure time.
• Mineral spots: WATER SPOT REMOVER, diluted with 50% water, can still remove mineral deposits. For regular maintenance, KMKZ ACID SHAMPOO and KMKZ QUICK DETAILER 3.0 are generally sufficient.
• Removal: It takes more time and effort than usual, but it can be removed.

A NOTE FROM OUR CEO

Timing arrives suddenly, and I believe this edgy product was born from a mix of chance and the right moment.

I buy and test products from around the world on business trips, and I receive samples from overseas development teams. I had always been skeptical of durable spray-on hardening ceramic coatings that rely on strong or highly penetrating solvents, with strong cross-linking and a tendency toward mille-feuille layering. Just as I was thinking about approaching the strictly regulated Western market again, this product came along.

As CEO, I was looking for a product with a stronger personality. So even at some cost to ease of application, I set out to make something KMKZ had never made before, and spent several months developing it.

Our products have always put resistance to acidic chemicals first. This one also greatly strengthens resistance to alkalis and solvents, forming a film that is hard to strip. As a by-product, it has a slickness unlike anything we've made before. Honestly, it came out better than I expected.

We added "EVO," for evolution, to the name because there is no success without failure, which is the all-in spirit of KAMIKAZE. We wanted to share this as a new side of KMKZ development. That is why we didn't call it "OVER COAT CERAMIC 2.0."

The 150 ml bottle gives you room to get the application right.

It is true that this product is almost the opposite of KMKZ's usual philosophy (wry smile). I'm looking forward to seeing how it is received in Japan and overseas. I think opinions will be divided (laughs).

P.S. KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING was developed alongside this product. It's just a degreaser, but as users in Japan and overseas have found, differences in water contact angle and water behavior can appear within a few weeks. It pairs very well with this coating.

DIRECTIONS

Do not apply below 15°C (59°F). For colder conditions, see OVER COAT LIQUID 6.1.

This product assumes paint that has already been washed and polished. For paint in poor condition, prepare first by removing water spots and iron fallout and polishing. We recommend KMKZ PAINT CLEANSING or KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE, and always degrease with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING.

1. Prepare the surface, then let it dry and degrease. The surface must be completely free of moisture.
2. Spray an appropriate amount onto an applicator sponge. Take care to avoid overspray. With the dropper, drip it out in an "X" pattern.
3. Work one panel at a time (one door, one fender, or half a hood).
4. Spread quickly from the center of the panel, using horizontal strokes.
5. To even out the application, go over it with vertical strokes. Too many back-and-forth strokes will thin the film.
6. Buff off with both sides of a dry microfiber towel.
7. If streaks appear, they can be removed with KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE.

Application conditions
This product forms a tough film but can be delicate to apply. Please note:

• Application temperature: 15°C (59°F) or above
• Initial cure: 12 hours
• Full cure: 72 hours (washable after this)
• Recoating: After 24 hours. We recommend two coats.
• Warming the paint in sunlight after application can speed up curing.
• Spraying directly onto the body can leave product on paint, glass and other surfaces. Spraying onto the applicator is better. A dropper uses less product.

Applicators

• DETAILING COSMETIC APPLICATOR: Well suited to an even, thicker film. The surface is small, so it takes practice to work quickly.

Standard sponge applicators tend to use more product and give an uneven film thickness, so add product in moderation.

Application tips

1. Apply a generous amount.
2. Use at least two sides of the applicator per car. As the microfiber fibers semi-cure, they dissolve into fresh product and spread it into an uneven layer, which makes application much harder. Switch to a new applicator, or a fresh side, at the halfway point of the car.

FAQ

Q. Can I reset it with KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE or KMKZ PAINT CLEANSING?
A. Yes, but removal takes more time and effort than usual.

Q. What if the temperature is below 15°C (59°F)?
A. Do not apply it. For colder conditions, see OVER COAT LIQUID 6.1.

Q. After 72 hours I can see a film, but water repellency is weak or chemical resistance is lacking.
A. This is most likely due to temperature or moisture contact during application. We recommend reapplying.

Q. How many applications does one 150 ml bottle cover?
A. About 4 to 5 standard-sized cars. Apply a sufficient, even amount, since a thinly spread film can lead to poor results.

Q. What do you recommend for applying it?
A. Degrease before application, use an applicator that lets you apply evenly and generously, and use four microfiber towels for efficient wiping: KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING, DETAILING COSMETIC APPLICATOR, and THE d'ELEGANCE TOWEL.

Q. I noticed haze and uneven application that wouldn't wipe away.
A. A small amount of KMKZ AMAZING GLAZE can remove the haze, but we generally recommend reapplying. Before reapplying, degrease with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING.

Q. Can I apply it without resetting?
A. This product forms a very delicate bond and is unlikely to bond to coatings other than our MIYABI COAT. In every case, degreasing with KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING is essential.
