KMKZ WASH SPONGE
Aiming for the ultimate car wash sponge.

Because it touches your paint directly, we wanted to get every detail right. KAMIKAZE COLLECTION made this sponge for car wash enthusiasts around the world.

Cosmetic-grade polyurethane
We used a cosmetic-grade polyurethane that is even softer and more elastic. Its elasticity helps it follow the paint surface, and we pursued softness in the material itself. The first thing we focus on in development is materials, and we had about one ton of this material custom-made.

The sponge is a neutral gray. Black hides dirt too well, while white shows dirt and discoloration easily.

We added carbon-based nano powder to the material to reduce resistance while washing.

Laser-cut surface
The laser cuts are small and deep, designed so pebbles and grit are less likely to get caught. The guide and edge areas are deliberately left uncut to help prevent scratches and keep the sponge durable.

Like our polishing pads, each sponge is laser-cut one piece at a time after it has been cut to shape. This takes about three times longer than before, and it was a key factor in choosing our factory.

Dimple surface
The dimples are designed with gentle angles to reduce contact area and aggressiveness on the paint. They clean effectively whether you wash vertically, horizontally or in circles.

The dimple side is intended for lower areas of the body with sand and similar dirt. The laser-cut side is intended for upper areas with accumulated dirt. Having a different front and back is part of our design philosophy.

Size and feel
We collected and compared car wash sponges from Japan and overseas, and refined the size by a few millimeters at a time to find a comfortable size that applies gentle pressure to the paint. Thickness in particular took work, as we balanced low pressure on the paint with how well the sponge follows your hand. We pursued the right thickness for balance and feel.

Development
Development started in the summer of 2018, and material selection, laser-cut design and size selection took about two years. Selling a sponge has been a long-held dream of ours. Our products are mainly developed for overseas markets, and we hope car wash enthusiasts everywhere will enjoy it.
