How do you tackle deep inorganic contamination?

When we launched KAMIKAZE COLLECTION on the global market 13 years ago, a few products caught the world's attention first: the KTC door gate stopper, KAMOI masking tape made with washi paper, thin wool pads paired with a crushed, water-soluble abrasive, and a hybrid coating that combined inorganic and organic materials to resist water spots and mineral deposits (the original ISM COAT).

Alongside them were two cleaners for inorganic contamination (water spots and mineral deposits), something that barely existed on the global market at the time:

• WATER SPOT REMOVER (now KMKZ WATER SPOT): a cleaner with almost no surfactants, made for removing light mineral deposits from coated cars.
• SILICA SCALE REMOVER (now KMKZ SILICA SCALE): a strongly acidic cleaner for removing stains on emblems and deep, etched-in marks.

Both earned high praise overseas. Although we changed their names, we kept selling them for 13 years with almost no changes, based on that reputation.

This KMKZ SILICA SCALE is a KAIZEN (continuous improvement) version, refined specifically for initial decontamination and thorough wash-downs.

PERFORMANCE

KMKZ SILICA SCALE is designed to remove stubborn mineral deposits that KMKZ WATER SPOT cannot. We recommend wet application, mainly so the acid can be neutralized easily. It is well suited to removing mineral deposits before polishing.

• Removing heavy mineral deposits from painted surfaces (recommended before polishing)
• Removing mineral deposits from glass before polishing
• Cleaning emblems and fine details
• Stripping degraded or oxidized inorganic coatings

Acid-based cleaning is highly effective for this kind of work, but it requires working one panel at a time, taking care around surfaces that may react, and neutralizing and rinsing after use. Please use it with these points in mind.

How It Differs from Other Acidic Chemicals
This product contains surfactants and is designed for wet cleaning, which makes it easy to neutralize. We compared it against products on the market during development, and we believe it offers excellent removal power, versatility through dilution (including for maintenance), and value for money.

How It Differs from KMKZ WATER SPOT
The main difference is how each one works: SILICA SCALE cleans through a dry reaction or through wet dissolution, while KMKZ WATER SPOT works through a different surfactant action. What they share is that both target inorganic and mineral deposits. Choose according to the job: SILICA SCALE for initial decontamination and thorough wash-downs, and WATER SPOT for maintenance.

DIRECTIONS

This product is intended for professional use by trained detailers. It is not intended for casual or consumer use. It can be used for everything from detailed cleaning to finishing work. We recommend KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING as the ideal neutralizer.

Dilution Guide

• Undiluted: For stubborn deposits and heavy mineral contamination.
• Pre-coating cleaning (1 part product to 1–2 parts water): When working on a roof, do not allow the product to contact or dry on glass. Work one panel at a time. Failure to rinse and neutralize may damage the surface.
• Maintenance cleaning (1 part product to 4–9 parts water): For removing mineral deposits from coated vehicles after washing.

Notes:

• It may strip existing body glass coatings. Test in an inconspicuous area first.
• Most KAMIKAZE COLLECTION products can be used for maintenance cleaning.
• Dilute with deionized or purified water whenever possible. Chlorine and other inorganic components in tap water can reduce cleaning power.

How to Use

1. Wet cleaning
On a freshly washed, wet car, apply an appropriate amount with a wet sponge. Rinse thoroughly with water afterward. For complete neutralization, we recommend KMKZ LUXE SHAMPOO.

2. Dry cleaning
On a freshly washed, wet car, apply an appropriate amount with a dry sponge. Afterward, wipe off with a tightly wrung wet cloth. For complete neutralization, we recommend KMKZ PRIMER DEGREASING.

3. Glass cleaning
After washing the glass, apply to the dry surface. Wipe off before it turns cloudy and dries. To prepare the glass for water repellency, we recommend polishing with KMKZ WINDOW POLISH.

Safety Precautions

• Wear protective equipment: chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection (goggles), protective clothing, and a mask or respirator as appropriate.
• Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes and seek medical attention. In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
• Do not mix with chlorine-based products or other chemicals. Mixing may release hazardous gases.
• Use in a well-ventilated area.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Test on an inconspicuous area first. This product may strip existing coatings.
• Some components react with the metal on the cap. This is a characteristic of the product and does not affect performance.
• Store in a cool place, away from glass, metals and other materials that may react with it.
• Dispose of contents and container in accordance with local regulations.
  

FAQ

Q. Can I use it on a factory body glass coating?
A. In most cases it will strip the coating. Diluted about 10x, it can be used as an acidic maintenance chemical, but in general it reacts with the inorganic polysilazane in factory body glass coatings. Siloxane-based coatings are likely to lose their water-repellent groups.

Q. Can I use it on glass?
A. Yes, on all glass except the windshield. To prepare the glass for water repellency, we recommend polishing with KMKZ WINDOW POLISH. Glass scratches may become more visible after use, and scratches may show a cloudy reaction.

Q. Can I apply KMKZ WINDOW COAT after using this product?
A. Yes. Strictly speaking, the product acts on the glass surface, so the anchor bond may be weaker. To prepare the glass for water repellency, we recommend polishing with KMKZ WINDOW POLISH.

Q. Can I use it professionally for coating maintenance?
A. Yes. You'll need to find a dilution that removes inorganic (mineral) deposits without stripping your body glass coating or ceramic coating.
