KMKZ RINSELESS WASH
Advanced Rinseless Technology
Available in 300 ml
THEORY: How far can you push wash quality when you can’t use much water?
KMKZ RINSELESS WASH is the newest product from KAMIKAZE COLLECTION. It started at a Concours d’Elegance in France, where rare cars from around the world gather. There, we felt the limits of conventional waterless sprays and microfiber-only methods: no free-flowing water, limited space, and little time. Is there a way to lift dirt while keeping friction on the paint as low as possible? Rinseless washing was one answer.
Rinseless washing is already well established overseas, especially in the US. We compared leading products from abroad on cleaning power, lubricity, wipe-off and finish. Here is how we see the five generations of the technology:
- Gen 1: Water saving. A bucket, a cloth and a small amount of solution, with no heavy rinsing.
- Gen 2: Polymer encapsulation. Polymers disperse and hold sand and mud in the solution.
- Gen 3: Hybrid cleaning. Polymers combined with surfactants to also handle oils and traffic film.
- Gen 4: Advanced lubrication. A focus on friction between the pad or towel and the paint, plus the finish left behind.
- Gen 5: Functional material engineering. Our approach, built around functional nanomaterials rather than polymers and surfactants alone.
We combined Japanese-made materials with our experience in coatings and chemical development. The goal was a rinseless wash that is more than a copy of overseas products.
We don’t reject the traditional wash with plenty of water and shampoo. It will always be the foundation of detailing. But where that isn’t possible, there should still be a technical solution, and used creatively, it can raise the level of your detailing.
1. Polymer encapsulation
In rinseless washing, lifting dirt isn’t enough. What matters is how well you capture the dirt once it leaves the paint, so it doesn’t re-deposit or re-bond.
This formula pairs surfactants with polymers that act on fine particles such as sand and mud. They help disperse the particles in the wash solution so the dirt can be picked up and carried away. Instead of flushing dirt off with foam and a stream of water, you hold the dirt in the solution and remove it.
Even diluted 256:1, the formula contains a special silicone emulsion that reacts with and penetrates the paint surface. After about three consecutive washes, you will notice a clear change in texture.
2. Boron nitride × carbon nanotubes
For this fifth-generation formula, we added two nanomaterials with different shapes and properties: boron nitride, with a layered crystal structure that gives low friction, and carbon nanotubes, with a tubular carbon structure. Combined with polymers and surfactants, they let us go beyond what conventional cleaning ingredients can do.
Cleaning power, dirt dispersion and friction between paint and wash tool are designed as one system, not as separate parts.
The nanomaterial film is conductive, so static charge doesn’t linger and the surface stays closer to neutral. This can help reduce dust attraction after washing. In sunlight, enjoy the unique look we call “gun-gun” and “meki-meki”, our Japanese shorthand for gloss that keeps deepening.
We also have to mention that some users report less wind noise, longer coasting when lifting off the throttle, and a feeling that the car is lighter. This may be because the nanomaterial film smooths airflow over the body. Not everyone will notice it.
*Results vary by individual.
3. Slick on the pad, silky on the paint
We focused on reducing friction during the wash and on how the paint feels after wiping. The post-wash smoothness matches the slickness people expect from modern coatings. It follows the same philosophy as our QUICK DETAILER and OVER COAT, applied to the rinseless process.
Slick (during the wash)
The slickness comes from a thickener in the water-based concentrate, not from wax or dimethicone oils. It gives a stringy, viscous feel that other rinseless washes don’t have. We use it at the highest level that still leaves no residue on the paint, because too much would stay behind with the surfactants and interfere with existing coatings. Balancing slip and body at a 256:1 dilution took several rounds of testing.
Silky (after the wash)
From Gen 4 onward, a rinseless wash needs to leave a polymer-coated feel. This is our specialty. It works especially well on paint that already has a slick layer, such as wax or ceramic coating. The slickness you feel right after washing grows stronger within an hour, and after about three rinseless washes the texture is almost fully developed.
If you wash this way more than 10 times in a row, or use the product too concentrated, a layered film buildup (what we jokingly call the “mille-feuille” effect) can form. In that case, wash with our shampoo or refresh the surface with a cleanser or prep product.
4. Gloss evolution: a finish that develops over time
We also considered how the finish changes after the wash:
- Moisture evaporates from the film, reducing optical haze.
- Polymers form a film, spreading over the surface and changing how light scatters across microscopic texture.
- Surfactants resettle and stabilize, changing the surface’s wetting behavior and residual film.
- Boron nitride and CNTs redistribute with the polymer, affecting the surface’s optical properties.
About an hour after application, the gloss and depth stand out even more. This is the “gun-gun / meki-meki” finish we describe.
*The change in finish varies with paint condition, application environment, temperature and humidity.
5. High dilution (256:1) and extra detailing uses
The standard dilution is 256:1, in line with many other rinseless products. A single 300 ml bottle makes about 76.8 L (about 20 US gal) of wash solution. You carry very little concentrate, which makes washing possible at events, on business trips, or in indoor garages.
It is also useful beyond the wash:
- Pre-soak: spray it on before your contact wash to reduce the chance of marring.
- Drying aid / quick detailer: use it on the wet body after washing.
This is our first highly dilutable product, and it is so versatile that our CEO half-jokes it may make some of our own products unnecessary. Personal favorite uses:
- A helper when buffing off stubborn wax or sealant.
- A hologram and streak remover when a ceramic coating starts to flash unevenly.
- An instant detailer for door jambs, under the hood, wheel wells and more.
A NOTE FROM OUR CEO
For years I have cared about two things in car washing: how to cause fewer wash marks, and how to leave the paint looking its best. Our roots are in professional detailing for overseas markets. We did not develop this product because rinseless is popular. We developed it because international detailers asked for it, and because I felt the need myself at events abroad.
Comparing products from around the world, we found real differences in cleaning power, lubricity, dirt dispersion and finish. We organized the strengths and weaknesses of each and, using Japanese materials, created our own answer.
Two evaluators in Japan and one overseas tested prototypes and helped set the direction of this project. Thank you.
I still believe a wash starts with water and suds. But not every environment has ideal facilities: concours events, indoor venues, business trips, or everyday limited spaces. Where a different method is needed, our technology can improve it. It’s just a car wash, but also just a car wash.
I believe detailing is moving away from the complicated and hobby-driven toward the simple. For the enthusiasts, this product is both slick and silky, and it wipes streak-free on glass and other surfaces. It’s versatile, great value, and a rinseless wash unlike any before.

HOW TO USE
Bucket method (256:1)
- Fill a bucket with water and add the concentrate according to the chart below. Mix well.
- Soak a rinseless sponge or microfiber towel with the solution.
- Gently wash one panel at a time.
- Dry with a drying towel to collect moisture and dirt. Finish with a separate dry towel if needed.
- Rinse your dirty sponge or towel in the bucket often to avoid dirt buildup. Use a Grit Guard–style insert if possible. Encapsulated mud and sand will settle at the bottom.
| Water | Concentrate |
|---|---|
| 2 US gal (8 L) | 1 fl oz (31 ml) |
| 3.2 US gal (12 L) | 1.6 fl oz (47 ml) |
| 3.2 US gal (12 L) | 1.6 fl oz (47 ml) |
| 4 US gal (15 L) | 2 fl oz (59 ml) |
| 5.3 US gal (20 L) | 2.6 fl oz (78 ml) |
Rule of thumb: 1 fl oz per 2 US gal. One pump of a compatible dispenser is about 1.6 ml (0.05 fl oz). Measurements may vary slightly.
Pre-soak (100:1)
Pre-soaking wets and softens dirt before you touch the paint. It does not remove all the dirt. It lowers the friction risk of the main wash.
- Fill a spray bottle or pump sprayer with a 100:1 solution (see chart).
- Mist evenly over the whole panel. Don’t let it dry.
- Wash gently with a rinseless sponge or microfiber soaked in solution.
- Dry with a drying towel.
| Water | Concentrate |
| 10 fl oz (300 ml) | 0.1 fl oz / 3 ml |
| 17 fl oz (500 ml) | 1 tsp / 5 ml |
| 25 fl oz (750 ml) | 1.5 tsp / 7.5 ml |
| 34 fl oz (1 L) | 2 tsp / 10 ml |
| 68 fl oz (2 L) | 4 tsp / 20 ml |
If the car has heavy sand, mud or hard particles, pre-rinse with running water or a pressure washer first. Don’t rely on pre-soak alone.
FAQ
Q. How is this different from regular car shampoo?
Regular shampoo relies on water and suds to flush dirt away. A rinseless wash lifts dirt into a sponge or towel soaked in solution and needs no heavy rinsing.
Q. How is it different from a waterless wash?
Waterless washing is based on a spray and a cloth. A rinseless wash uses a bucket of prepared solution and a sponge or cloth that holds plenty of it.
Q. Can I use it on ceramic-coated or PPF-wrapped cars?
Yes, it was developed for those surfaces. For freshly applied coatings or special treatments, follow your installer’s instructions.
Q. Does it completely prevent wash marks?
No. Any wash can cause marks. Friction depends on how much sand and mud is on the car, the condition of your tools, and your technique. For heavily soiled cars, pre-rinse first.
Q. How durable is it? Can I use it alone?
It lasts only a few washes and acts as a weak sacrificial layer, so we don’t recommend it as a standalone protection. The full gloss and texture develop after about 5 washes.
Q. Why does the finish change after an hour?
As moisture evaporates and the polymer and surfactant layers settle, the gloss and slickness become more pronounced (see section 4).
Q. The surface looks hazy. Is it layering?
The product may not be compatible with your existing coating. Wash with a stronger dilution of our shampoo, or refresh with a cleanser or prep product.
