A finishing polish pad with laser-cut slits

Finish polishing is the stage we enjoy most, because it is the finale of a process that can take several hours. The most important point in this stage is how to remove buffing marks while keeping the gloss.

Laser-cut slits
When a buffing surface is cut, by-products such as swirl marks and buffing marks tend to appear. After repeated trial and error, we developed a cut shape that addresses this. Each pad is cut from a single piece of sponge, and the complex cutting pattern is laser-cut one piece at a time.

The edge of the pad is flattened to reduce dust build-up on the inner radius. The radial cut lines are designed to improve heat dissipation and cutting action. Controlling surface temperature is key to letting the particles of the finishing compound break down efficiently.

Velcro backing
The backing layer uses ABS resin, for stable and more point-focused polishing. The adhesive was developed to resist peeling at high temperatures.
